They have served local communities for 18 years, but they must have their own space or else >>>
  • Medical equipment is in danger of being stolen or damaged from weather.
  • Local medical professionals won’t have a place to meet for advanced medical training.
  • They won’t have a base of operations for their mobile clinics and outreach.

Gerald & Jane Dollar

Gerald and Jane serve as Team Leaders in Ukraine, helping connect the AGWM missionary body with the Ukrainian national church. The Dollars are leading the Ukraine Church Project. They collaborate often with our two other Empower Ukraine projects, coordinating ministry placement for pastors once they graduate from Evangel Theological Seminary, releasing them into ministry with the national church, and also locating communities where compassion ministry is needed and connecting them with Hope in Action. A majority of their ministry has revolved around construction. Previously, the Dollars have served in the Canary Islands and Israel. They have 5 children, two are married, one is in college, and two still live with them in Ukraine. 
Evangel Theological Seminary 

Vasiliy & Lyubov Voytovich

The Voytoviches were both born in the former Soviet Union during the time the church was underground because of Christian persecution. Once Vasiliy learned to read in school, his grandfather would call him over to secretly read the Bible to him. He remembers the Bible always being wrapped in a blanket and tucked away in a hidden spot. Vasiliy read God’s word aloud and his grandfather would weep and beg Vasiliy not to tell anyone about the Bible because his son, Vasiliy’s uncle, was in prison at the time for spreading the gospel. Soon after, their families fled to the USA as refugees, so Vasiliy and Lyubov both grew up in America. As they got older, they longed and felt called by God to go back to the land of their birth to share the gospel with the people of their home country. They got that opportunity to return to Ukraine in 2013, and now lead Evangel Theological Seminary.

Hope in Action Medical Ministry Center 

Tom & Nancy Wespetal

Two doctors, one heart…serving Ukraine! Tom is a doctor of the mind, Nancy a doctor of the body, and both are doctors of the soul! Tom and Nancy Wespetal have served in the former Soviet Union since 1995. Tom’s service is in the area of Bible teaching and Nancy is a family physician. Since 2002, she has taken an active role in the formation and ministry of Hope in Action, a Ukrainian humanitarian aid organization whose main focus is the physical and spiritual health of rural Ukrainians. Together, with local churches, the Christian Mobile Medical Team (Hope in Action’s medical arm) has provided medical care and a living witness to over 85,000 Ukrainians in every area of Ukraine.
There are over 28,000 cities, towns, and villages in Ukraine, most of which do not even have one evangelical church. 
War, upheaval, and economic collapse in Ukraine has given the church an incredible opportunity for revival.

Ukrainians deserve a place to belong. The Empower Ukraine project is building places where people find hope through pastoral training, medical ministry, and church planting, which will result in equipping pastors to establish congregations and advance the gospel across Ukraine.

Ukraine Church Construction - Evangelism
The number of new believers in Ukraine is outpacing church planting. The Ukraine church project provides church plants with their first permanent buildings, empowering pastors to advance the gospel in communities across Ukraine.
Description: Ukraine is seeing a significant increase in the number of new Christians and church congregations. The national church has a goal to plant 400 churches. The initial plan is to fund 12 new church buildings in 2021. Church plants have been identified that are ready to move forward with construction.

Benefits: A permanent building brings hope to a community by empowering the local pastor while bringing validity to the ministry! This multi-year program has already seen approximately 240 churches established, which are now reaching the lost and advancing the gospel throughout Ukraine. 
Evangel Theological Seminary - Education
This Soviet-era campus needs major repair in order to meet governmental requirements. Upon completion, accreditation will be granted and 500 students can resume on-campus learning.
Description: Repair of Evangel Theological Seminary (ETS) includes immediate replacement of the heating system, as well as upgrading the sprinkler system, minor structural repairs, water damage repairs, and parking lot improvements. This must be done before the government will allow them to secure accreditation for their Master’s and Doctoral Degree program. The time to complete this work is now, while students are still studying off-campus due to COVID-19.

Benefits: ETS is the center of training and mentoring church planters for the entire country. The renovations and repair will allow for students to gain an advanced education and graduate with an accredited degree. The restoration of this campus will put the campus in compliance with building codes, extend the usage of the building for many years, as well as encourage and empower the students and faculty.
Hope In Action Medical Ministry Center - Compassion
Many Ukrainians struggle to find access to healthcare. Hope in Action provides quality medical healthcare to those in need, along with prayer counseling and an opportunity to hear the Gospel.
Description: The ministry is growing! Hope In Action Medical Ministry Center will provide greatly needed space for patient care, volunteer training classrooms, a church meeting area, and storage for medical equipment.

Benefits: Hope in Action has over 200 Ukrainian medical professional volunteers who administer a wide variety of medical services. They not only provide medical care and evangelism to patients but comfort in a time of need. They have now hosted over 350 medical outreaches and seen more than 10,000 decisions for Christ!
